ABOUT
Unifora Expanded is the widest variant in the Unifora uniwidth variable sans-serif superfamily, drawn at 125% of the standard proportions.
It is designed for contexts where letterforms need to command space and hold detail at large sizes: display headings, outdoor signage, wayfinding systems, hero typography, and wide-format print and packaging. At scale, Expanded makes Unifora's architectural details most visible—the corner cuts, the straight segments on curved glyphs, the full ±18° slant axis—all legible and intentional in ways that reward close viewing. This is not a body text width; it is a typographic statement, best used to set the visual register for everything underneath it.
Within Expanded, the uniwidth principle applies: every glyph holds its advance width regardless of weight or style, so a headline set in Thin and the same headline set in Black occupy exactly the same space—useful for animated or state-driven display type.
The Unifora user’s manual includes guidance on mixing widths across a typographic hierarchy while keeping the uniwidth constraint working in your favor.
Unifora Expanded comes with 9 weights and matching italic and retalic styles with slants up to 18°. The variable font includes two axes: weight and slant.
